Briefly introduce the waterproof knowledge of LED display screen

The use of LED display screen is becoming more and more common, but the waterproof function of LED display screen is also our concern, especially for outdoor LED display screen. The protection level of LED display screen is generally displayed as ipxy, for example: IP56. X indicates the level of dust prevention and foreign object intrusion prevention of LED display screen, y indicates the tightness of LED display screen against moisture and water intrusion. The larger the number, the higher the protection level. Let's talk about the significance of X and Y numbers respectively.

X indicates the meaning of the numeric code:

0: no protection

1: Protect solid foreign bodies of 50mm diameter and larger

2: Protection against solid foreign bodies 12.5mm diameter and larger

3: Protection against solid foreign bodies 2.5mm diameter and larger

4: Protection against solid foreign bodies 1.0mm diameter and larger

5: Prevent the accumulation of harmful dust (it is impossible to completely prevent the entry of dust, but the amount of dust will not cause damage to the equipment)

6: Completely prevent dust from entering (dust should not enter the cabinet at a low pressure of 20 mbar)

Y indicates the meaning of the numeric code

0: no protection

1: Water drop protection (water drops falling vertically shall not cause damage)

2: When the shell is tilted to 15 degrees, the water drops shall be protected, and the water drops falling vertically shall not cause damage

3: Protect against spilled water (water or rain has no effect from the 60 degree corner to the shell)

4: Protective water spray (liquid splashed on the shell from any direction has no harmful effect)

5: Protective water jetting (aiming at the cabinet from each direction without any damage)

6: Protection against strong water jet (strong water jet aimed at the cabinet from each direction without any damage)

7: It can withstand immersion in a short time (1m)

8: Immerse in water for a long time under a certain pressure

We can see that the waterproof level of LED shell is different in a pair of indoor display screen. The waterproof level of outdoor is generally higher than that of indoor, because outdoor LED display screen is more waterproof than indoor LED display screen in rainy days or in need of waterproof.

For example, the waterproof parameters of LED display screen may be easier to understand: for example, the protection grade of the display screen is IP54, IP is the marking letter, the number 5 is the first marking number, and 4 is the second marking number. 

The first marked number indicates the level of contact protection and foreign object protection, and the second marked number indicates the level of waterproof protection. It should be noted that the second characteristic number after IP is 6 and below. 

With the increase of the number, the test is gradually tightened. In other words, the LED display screen marked ipx6 can pass the tests of ipx5, IPx4, IPX3, ipx2, ipx1 and IPX0 at the same time. 

The test of the second characteristic digit 7 or 8 after IP is different from the test type of 6 and below. In other words, the identification of ipx7 or ipx8 does not mean that it meets the requirements of ipx6 and ipx5 at the same time. LED displays that meet the requirements of ipx7 and ipx6 can be identified as ipx7 / ipx6.

Here, we focus on the waterproof grade division of outdoor LED display screen.

The waterproof grade of outdoor LED full-color display screen is IP65. 6 is to prevent objects and dust from entering the screen, and 5 is to prevent water from entering the screen when spraying. Of course, there is no problem for rainstorm. The simple box of outdoor waterproof LED display screen is generally marked with front waterproof IP65, because the simple box has no back door. This design is convenient for the heat dissipation of the machine. After the whole screen is installed, it needs to be waterproof wrapped with materials such as aluminum plastic plate and waterproof glue, and the waterproof effect also reaches IP65. Now the simple box is mostly used for outdoor full-color LED display screen. The full-color screen of conventional LED outdoor in-line lamp is an outdoor module and closed box structure. After treatment, it forms an outdoor waterproof display box, and the waterproof display box is assembled into an outdoor full-color screen. Therefore, the display box is the basic unit constituting the display body. Adopt box structure:

1、 Convenient for dispatching, aging and on-site maintenance;

2、 Convenient for packaging and transportation;

3、 Convenient on-site installation and disassembly. A display module is installed in front of the display box, and a display driving circuit board is fixed inside the box. The switching power supply is installed on the back cover of the box. The back cover of the box body is also equipped with an exhaust fan and a punching hundred leaf window. The box body adopts plastic spraying treatment on the internal and external surfaces, which has the functions of anti-corrosion, moisture-proof, anti-oxidation and flame retardant, so as to ensure the safety of the display body.

In terms of the structure of the display,

First, the module should be outdoor waterproof module,

The back of the second module should be painted with three proofing paint,

Third, the box should be a waterproof box with good sealing. You can do waterproof test and spray water on the surface of the display screen.

After a number of tests, the IP protection grade of the waterproof box of outdoor LED display screen must reach IP65 to realize the real waterproof.
